Comms and Engagement Working Group Survey Comms and Engagement Working Group Survey The ICCN's Comms and Engagement Working Group has agreed to collaborate on a joint product: ‘The Climate Council Communications Handbook’.
The overall aims for the Handbook are: 1) To support knowledge sharing on communications and engagement strategies and processes amongst climate councils (and more specifically, to capture learnings from the working group and make them easier to digest and disseminate among colleagues), and 2) To help working group members build communications and engagement mandates within their organisations (and support the case for increased comms/engagement resourcing internally).
The Handbook will be developed for an internal audience (e.g. climate councils) and try to leverage content we have covered in the working group already. The purpose of this survey is to pull more granular data from working group members, so that we can start to get a better understanding of climate councils' baseline communications mandates, capabilities and strategies.
Please note that your answers to these questions will not be shared beyond the group. Data will only be shared in aggregate, however case studies you put forward may be attributed to your council.
What is your climate council's official communications mandate (e.g. to communicate with policymakers or engage the broader public)? Please cite your country or state's climate framework law or other relevant legislation where appropriate.
Does your communications team work strictly within the confines of your mandate? If you conduct work that falls outside of your official mandate, what kinds of activities are these?
What capabilities does your climate council have in-house and what do you outsource?
Do any council members have communications and/or media expertise or experience? Do you work with them?
Answers to the following two questions will be used to help interpret our survey results:
